The Department of nuclear medicine was built in 1993. The undergraduate room with PET/CT, ECT and tumor radionuclide radiotherapy is the main feature. It has a well-trained and professionally qualified medical staff. Relying on the powerful medical, scientific research and teaching strength of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhongshan University, the nuclear medicine department has realized the domestic first-class tumor center from the equipment configuration to the technical application, and is an important nuclear medical science and education research base in Southern China area.
The undergraduate room introduced a PET/CT of SIEMENS Biography mCT S (64), which combines the advantages of the latest generation of 52 ring high definition PET scanner with the advantages of high sensitivity, high resolution, high speed and large field of vision, and all the functions of 64 layer spiral CT. Compared with the existing PET-CT, there are four advantages: large field of vision and high sensitivity PET Images, shorten the time of examination by more than 1/3; the dosage of radiopharmaceuticals in patients is reduced and the dose of CT radiation is reduced, the total radiation dose received by the patient is greatly reduced; the super HD image processing technology improves the resolution, improves the contrast, and enhances the detection ability of the small focus. The diameter of the tracing hole increased to 78 cm, which significantly improved the examination efficiency and scanning comfort. The PET / CT system can detect lesions earlier and locate lesions more accurately.
Clinical research is the main research area, and basic research is centered around clinical practice. It has been responsible for and participates in scientific research work of more than ten scientific research projects, such as the National Science Foundation, the national Ministry of health, the key science and technology project of Guangzhou and the key subject construction projects of the Zhongshan University. He was awarded the three prize of science and technology progress of the State Education Commission and the two prize of science and technology of Zhongshan Medical University. At the same time, the undergraduate course also undertakes the teaching and clinical practice of the postgraduates, undergraduates and junior college students, and the classroom teaching of the advanced students.
At present, the Department of nuclear medicine has twenty medical, technical and nursing staff, and 3 senior and senior professors. It has become a comprehensive section of nuclide diagnosis, treatment and scientific research. PET/CT examination and SPECT imaging diagnosis of cancer, heart and brain diseases have been carried out, and the research work of using PET/CT for the imaging of biological target area of radiotherapy is carried out.
The undergraduate department is now responsible for the teaching and clinical practice of graduate students, undergraduate students and junior college students, as well as the classroom teaching work of the students.
